The Westboro Baptist Church: Allowed to Advocate for Foster Children in Kansas

August 26, 2017

Here is another shocking story from the already failing Kansas foster care system. The Kansas foster care and legal system is allowing a member of the Westboro Baptist Church to serve as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and advocate for the “best interest” of a child. Because they obviously know what is in a child’s best interest… it’s not like they have a website called godhatesfags.com or anything.

I will not identify a name, but you can probably figure it out. Read the following two articles and see what you find.

1 - Cjonline article from 2011

2 - Minutes of the house of children and seniors committee from February 2017

What is a Guardian ad Litem (GAL)?

According to ptla.org, a GAL is a person the court appoints to investigate what solutions would be in the “best interest of the child.”

What does the Westboro Baptist Church stand for?

They are known for hate… period! They hate just about everyone, especially LGBT people, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Soldiers, politicians, really everyone. These pieces of trash are known for protesting funerals of deceased Soldiers. They protested a funeral for a good friend of mine who was KIA in 2011.

Additionally, they are known for statements such as:

“thank God for dead Soldiers”

“thank God for 9/11”

“God hates America”

This is a group of people who will surely burn in hell. Sounds like a good group to advocate for disadvantaged foster children right!

I am extremely disappointed in the State of Kansas for allowing this to happen. They know exactly who this person is and yet they still allow it to happen. Yet, they bully foster parents and keep them quiet. Can you imagine your child taking advice from a person holding a sign that reads “thank God for dead Soldiers” and being forced to take it? I can’t, so why do we allow this to happen to foster children?

Lastly, why is it that no one in the Kansas legislature is doing anything to actually fix foster care? Why is it that they are all scared of DCF? They see what is happening. They see who is advocating for our children. Yet, they remain on the sidelines for some strange reason.
